Harper Lee is giving readers a present for her 88th birthday – To Kill a Mockingbird as an e-book.
Lee made an announcement through her publisher HarperCollins on Monday, the Associated Press reported: “I’m still old-fashioned. I love dusty old books and libraries. I am amazed and humbled that Mockingbird has survived this long. This is Mockingbird for a new generation.”
Readers love old, dusty books as well, but as more people are turned on to digital books, it’s good move to see Lee make the leap. The novel will be released digitally on July 8.
Many authors have changed their minds when it has come to releasing digital books over the last year. J.K. Rowling and Ray Bradbury are the latest authors whose works have been made available in the (legal) digital world.
