Important news about Spanish ebooks

On Tuesday the Spanish Minister of Culture said that the value added tax for ebooks would be set at the same level as that for paper books, reducing the VAT from 16% to 4%. This announcement was made at the inauguration of the Enclave project, which will allow the National Library of Spain to offer ebooks for sale. The Library’s website also directs users who want ebooks under copyright to one of the 90 publishers who have contributed about 1,300 titles.

And will Amazon lower their prices for the Kindle store in Spain? I am guessing no…
BTW, I only mention Amazon because it’s THE only player in the Spanish ebook scene. Spanish as in country, not as in language.
