@Holly, are you trying to open a book that you just downloaded to the Nook app or one that you had downloaded in the past? It's possible you're trying to open a book that had been coded with a different credit card number. Try importing again with a fresh download.

Also, are you using your name (as shown on your credit card) or your username? You must use the credit card name, not your username.

Those are the two most common mistakes people make. If neither of those fix the problem, email me at juli@1to1Discovery.com, and we'll see if we can't figure it out.

I logged into BN to verify the format of my name and which credit card I used, but continue to get incorrect name/password. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Nook HD and I love it! It was easy to understand and I love the interface. Here's the one I have on Amazon http://amzn.to/WBAj3s. If you're looking for a tablet you should check it out, I think it's very underrated.

Nice how-to for newbies, Juli. I would encourage TeleRead community members to suggest other topics for you, Dan and Joanna - especially those dealing with practicalities, including ones of interest to old-timers.

Juli has been reading TeleRead for years, as she mentioned during my enjoyable two-hour chat with her at Panera Bread here in Northern Virginia; and she'll be contributing other posts. She owns an iPad, a Kindle and a Google Nexus 7 and will help track the Nook and Kobo apps, so she has the major bases covered. Oodles of e-books are in her cloud. Juli lives and breathes the stuff and cares endlessly about core issues such as DRM (even though the current post tells Nook-format users how to read "protected" books with Aldiko, she very much wishes the files weren't DRM-tainted). Her e-booking, as I recall, goes back to the days when PDAs were the main show.

So speak up if you want something explained or other kinds of coverage! If Juli or others lack immediate answers, they have the tech and journalistic expertise to research it.

I'd welcome Juli to the TeleRead community except, as you can see, she's already part of it. Kudos to Dan and NAPCO for running her posts!

David
(Just as much a fan of Dan and Joanna as ever - and delighted to see TeleRead richer in content, now that he finally has the long overdue extra help)
