Google Phone e-book software strategy: Just an idea

“Google, according to several people with direct knowledge of its efforts, will give away its software to hand-set makers and then use the Google Phone’s openness as an invitation for software developers and content distributors to design applications for it.” – New York Times in profile of Andy Rubin, the man behind the G Phone.
The TeleRead take: So why couldn’t the software include a first-rate .epub reader for phones with suitable displays for book-reading? How I hope that Google will encourage people to download books in phone-friendly formats, not just view them through browsers or as PDFs!
