Could the e format be good news for the short story—given the reluctance of many readers to read novel-length fiction off screens?
I’d hope so. Meanwhile, you can sample O. Henry, aka William Sydney Porter (1862-1910), author of The Gift of the Magi and other greats.
What’s more, Ficbot at The Best Media Is Free has just put together links to free stories online. Here are sample categories—distilled from manybooks.net, one of my favorite public domain sites:
–Best American Humorous Short Stories
–Best Russian Short Stories
–The Best Ghost Stories
–Great Sea Stories
–Stories of Comedy
–Stories of Mystery
–Short Stories for English Courses
–Victorian Short Stories of Courtship
–Victorian Short Stories of Successful Marriages
–Victorian Short Stories of Troubled Marriages
