Book Business Magazine has asked me to present a Kindle Webinar later this month. It’s called Leveraging the Kindle — How to maximize the Kindle’s benefits to your readers and your business.
As you can tell from the title, the Webinar is mostly intended for book/content publishers, but I think Kindle owners and anyone considering a Kindle will get something out of it as well. The best part: It’s totally free.
Topics: From wireless to the K machine for pre-pub promotion
The link above provides more information about the event and includes a registration form. The Webinar is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 21st and includes a Q&A session at the end. I’m looking forward to this session and I hope you’re able to attend.
Among the points to be covered, as described by Book Magazine:
- Getting beyond the awful design
- Wireless connectivity – the killer app?
- Why Amazon is uniquely positioned for success
- 140K+ titles seems like a lot… until the one you want isn’t available
- Leveraging the long tail of your content
- The importance of the $9.99 price point
- What content formats work? Which ones don’t? How might this change?
- Graphics in four shades of gray
- The (obvious) importance of testing your content
- Thinking beyond the static print book
- The Kindle as a pre-pub promotional device
- What can we learn from Feedbooks?
- Benefits to Kindle use within your organization
- Features I’d like to see in Kindle 2.0, 3.0 and beyond…
Moderator’s note: I’d heartily recommend you attend Joe’s Webinar if possible, regardless of how you feel about the Kindle’s DRM. The number of Kindle users will greatly grow in the next year, and Joe’s advice is worth a lot more than you’ll pay for it. – D.R.

All of that is overshadowed by one unasked question: What if Apple enters ebooks?
