FBReader for Linux desktops and handhelds ported to Pepper Pad

FBRReader, one of the better e-readers for Linux-based machines, including the Nokia 770, is now running on the Pepper Pad, according to Roger Sperberg.
He says there are “some minor glitches due to its using a different flavor of Linux.” Check the related Google group for more information. Thanks, Roger.

[...] I am with David here and mostly for the reasons he pointed out. For my interests (language learning e-books), HTML is not a good enough format. Sure, I could hack HTML into submission for some of my goals, but it will require so much javascript, that it will not work in anything but a full-blown browser. I invite Bill to replicate the functionality of the Pocket e-Sword. so that it works well in IE, Firefox, Opera and Safari. Maybe that’s why Pepper Pad is integrating FBRReader despite already having a built in Firefox web browser. [...]
I purchased my pepperpad 2 a while ago from ecost and the transaction went smoothly.

I got my PP2 from ecost, but got my PP3, with the loyalty discount from Pepper’s website, but it needed to be returned. It was a hardware issue where the screen needed constant calibration. From what I gathered on Peppers forums, this is a rare problem with only one other person I know of who had it.
To their credit they contacted me back immediately and provided a free shipping label. I am currently awaiting a new one and will give FBReader a try as soon as possible.
