eReaderiPhoneJune2009 An Android version of eReader will appear in “mid to late summer,” according to Scott Pendergrast at Fictionwise, the Barnes & Noble subsidiary that owns the format.

It won’t start out reading ePub, but Scott tells me such a capability will follow shortly.

As expected, the new eReader will be able to read not just ePub wrapped in Fictionwise’s DRM but also nonDRMed ePub.

He tells me, in addition, that a linux version of eReader is also on track and should appear in the near future.

Scott was about to begin a meeting and couldn’t talk long, but perhaps he can add more details in our comments section.

Shown is eReader’s current iPhone verison.
