image The new iPhones “can now hold 176 apps on 11 side-by-side Home screens,” reports the New York Times—and that’s a nice little boost from the earlier 148.

What does this have to do with e-books? Plenty, given the fondness of some publishers for releasing them as apps.

Of course, I’d still like to see a way for us to fold app books into—gasp, all-purpose e-book reading software. That could reduce the app clutter and make room for more titles.
