So if I've deliberately used a particular font or colour in a heading to get a specific effect, to take a very simple example, that will be lost. I'm not saying the reader shouldn't be allowed to change it, but no-one should be obliged to. (If it helps you understand where I'm coming from, I'm working on science and academic works, not novels.)
