iPhoneWell, maybe the 33-percent iPhone price cut isn’t good news to some customers who paid the full price. But long term, this development should be helpful for those who want phones that can suffice for e-reading and also be used for a wide variety of other apps. Nothing like the piggyback effect, eh?

In a small, unscientific TeleBlog poll, a little over half of respondents said they planned to buy iPhones.

The new number: $399 for an iPhone with an 8GB memory, quite a drop from the original $599. The 4G is iPhone, sold for $499, is being axed. Wouldn’t it have been cool if Apple had kept the 4GB model and reduced its price, too? You don’t need the extra memory for e-reading.

Quick reminder: Not everyone will cotton to the PDA-sized screen.
