$149 for color e-book reader—but it’s lame and reads only .txt format

For a good laugh, probably nothing more, check out the $149 Sungale 7” Color eBook Reader and Portable Photo Album with Case, at Newegg.com.
It reads only .txt format, and one shopper-reviewer says: “You can’t get any lamer for an ebook reader.” 100 percent of the two reviews posted on Newegg are negative.
When someone might actually be interested: I wonder how the Sungale would do as a reader for public domain books in .txt; how about kids who enjoy color, for example?
That said, %149 is a good part of the price of a netbook with color. I paid $200 for a refurbished Acer Aspire One.

And how in earth is it suposed to display colour on txt files? LOL! What is that usefull for?
Guess you could see the covers while while browsing and could otherwise download the images separately. But yes, it’s still a real hoot. David
I saw a website recently with “prizes” for most ridiculous tech gadgets – a pity I can’t remember where it was as this would have been a good recommendation!
How easily can we replace the firmware to turn this into a killer epub reading machine?
Hi,
If it has a 7″ photo album then you can use PDF XChange Viewer to print your PDF eBook into JPG coloured files and read on the device.

I know the eBook file size will then be quite big but if you have a digital photo frame lying around this is the cheapest way to have a DIY eBook Reader.
