I voted to buy one and my thinking was that if you are going to run a site like this you should be personally familiar with as much of the industry as possible. It’s one thing to read what others say, it’s another to see for yourself. I, myself, was shocked that I prefer the Kindle to the Sony Reader. Never would have expected that in a million years based on what I had read on the net!
Don’t do it!!!
Biba has become a Kindle Kultist. I am shocked — shocked! — at how his head could be turned by some tart with excess buttonage.
You lack will, lad!

Will, I say!
In a free market economy the best way to take a stand against companies whose products you believe are harmful to the marketplace is not to do business with them. For example, the last Microsoft product I purchased was Windows 3.1. Do you really want to contribute to Amazon’s effort to monopolize the e-book market?
Buy the Iliad instead!
Buy it. That way you can buy cheap ebooks from all the St00pid publishers who charge $9.99 for kindle versions and $24.95 for other versions.
The DRM isn’t an issue because once you’ve downloaded the files to your computer (or copied them off the Kindle) you’ll be able to uncripple them with a modicum of google-fu.
Wait for the next revision, then buy a kindle. Share your thoughts with us then.
