Adobe has released yet another beta version of the Digital Editions e-reader. I’m having trouble adjusting the type size in the double-page mode, but I assume that’s just a temporary problem. Download: Here. Related: More from Adobe, PC World and MobileRead. Also, click “Read rest of this entry” for Adobe’s list of enhancements such as “support for expiring book…”

Release Notes for Beta 3 (Feb 14, 2007)
The beta 3 release of Adobe Digital Editions comprises the following enhancements:
* Support for consumable rights for both printing and copying
* Support for expiring books, both absolute and relative. Note that metered expiration is NOT supported.
* Additional user interface (in the additional info dialog) to display the amount of consumable rights left for a book
* Support for JBIG2 image encoding has been added. But note that JPEG2000 encoding is still not supported. We intend to add that support in the next release.
* MANY bug fixes for DRM support
* MANY minor UI fixes
* Some performance improvements
This release supports the same platforms as the previous release. Please note that Vista and Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard) are not presently supported. They will be supported in the final released version (due out late in the first half of this year).
Known Issues
* There is no menu support for copy to clipboard – it can only be done with Command+C (Mac) or Ctrl+C (Windows).
* Repeated attempts to cancel a print job on Windows can cause a crash of ADE.
* No close option when right-clicking on ADE icon on Windows task bar.
* The icon view can be slow to respond if there are many ( >> 100) books in the library. This will be resolved in a subsequent release but the workaround for now is to use the grid view.
* Search in XHTML-based documents sometimes does not navigate to the proper spot in the document.
* Error messages are still somewhat obscure at times.

Comments:
I noticed that these release notes are dated as far back as February – many months before Leopard was due to be released. Now that it’s almost 10 months later.. is there ANY speculation, at all, official, unofficial or totally imaginary, as to when one would be able to use Digital Editions with Leopard? I’d like to actually read my eBooks…
