TeleRead
in the TeleRead and the Pineallas Park Public Library Why Amos Bokros Wants Library Books to Go on the Internet |
People with disabilities would be among the biggest beneficiaries of TeleRead. Imagine what TeleRead would mean for the millions of American adults unable to go to the library on their own. TeleRead could be a godsend to babyboomers as they grew older and frailer.
Consider, too, the vision impaired. The more books online, the more reading would be available for the vision-impaired by way of speech synthesizers and other adaptive technology. Meanwhile, if you yourself are blind or know someone who is, check out Bookshare.org--not a substitute for a TeleRead library system, but a valuable service in its own way. Similarly by way of synthesizers, TeleRead could aid the dyslexic and others with reading problems. |
