xkcd on why to buy a Kindle

Randall Munroe zeroes in on an excellent reason to buy a Kindle even if you are not fond of reading e-books. And he does it in his inimitably xkcd-like way.

While trying not to give away the punchline, I think it is interesting how the rest of the strip represents a reversal (or perhaps a repetition, depending on how you look at it) of the “get a device for something else, find e-books are a great additional use for it” effect that we’ve seen on the Palm Pilot and the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Randall’s character, while disdaining e-books, buys an e-book device expressly for one of its other features. Will he eventually come to enjoy reading e-books after all?
