I just purchased a flygrip for my Note II. I will say it helps my one-handed range of motion, and keeps me from dropping the large phone. I like it. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the free case. I would buy it again for the Note II or a tablet. I don’t know if it would be needed for a small phone like an iPhone.

…I would never put something like the lazy-hands on my phone, but the black flygrip with black case doesn’t look too bad.

It is only my first day using it, and I’m not totally impressed with the built quality (plastic w/rough edges) but it does make the phone way more secure in one hand.

Great review Chris – thank you. I’m developing some arthritis in my hands so this was right on topic for me. The price is a bit prohibitive so I’m also looking at the Lazy-Hands grips. Starting at $7.95 they seem to be more in my price range. They don’t do the kickstand trick but I think I can live without that feature. Here’s a link: http://www.lazy-hands.com/

until June 30, 2012 they’re offering a free phone grip if you buy a tablet grip. I think I’ll order and report back.

I really wish they made these in china so it would be cheaper. $30 bucks seems like alot and you could get 3 quality cases made from china as the same price

A better idea are the Lazy-Hands thumbs free and
removable/ repositional grips. Simple, ergonomic, and eligant.

Howard, I don’t think Chris’ mother’s situation can be classified as a “personal quirk”.

As a person with two good hands, I can look at the FlyGrip as a clever-but-do-I-really-need-it device. However, I have a friend with limited use of his left arm who reads on a Kindle that he keeps propped on a pillow in his lap. I’ll be forwarding this review to him right away. Thanks, Chris.

Well, yes, so have I. And as I tried to make clear in the review, I don't need it, either. I don't need sunglasses on a bright day, either, or an ice cold beer as opposed to a glass of water. But in all cases, they sure do make the things we were doing already more enjoyable.

I’ve been reading my eBooks on my iPhone for a year or more one-handed … never needed any gadget to help. Weird.
