The International Children’s Digital Library provides a useful glimpse of the future possibilities of the Net as a setting for a child-oriented library. But as reported by School Library Journal, via Library Stuff, the technology appears to be too advanced for many of today’s librarians. For a more positive description of the ICDL site, you can see and hear a recent NPR report. We ourselves went through some Java-related hassles when we tried ICDL. Stay tuned, however–the ICDL expects to be much easier to use six months from now, and we wish this project’s organizers the best of luck.
