Item below is from Nick Bouton—promoting Protagonize, his new community site for writers, about which Cyberbuzz wrote in November. Focus is on “collaborative, interactive fiction” as well as the traditional variety.
Protagonize is currently home to over 7,100 authors participating from around the world, and has a vibrant community that encourages constructive feedback and critique.
The site was launched as a creative writing social network about 18 months ago and has won a variety of awards since its inception, mostly in the design and community development spheres. Most recently, Protagonize was a finalist at the South by Southwest (SxSW) Interactive Web Awards in the Community category. While we didn’t win, it was great exposure for the site and it’s been growing pretty steadily since then.
We’ve recently launched a new "groups" feature on the site that encourages discussion on various topics about creative writing, and will (very soon) allow the authors on the site to create their own custom groups and writing circles. I’m hoping to attract existing real-life local writing communities and programs as well, giving them an online presence for their members on an already writing-oriented site (unlike a Facebook group/page or Ning site.)
Please feel free to take a look at the site (registration is free and opens up a raft of new features).
