australia flag.jpgTwo symposia are being held in Australia on digital publishing. The first, held on the 15th, had over 400 attendees from the industry and the second will be held in Sydney on Wednesday.

The Australia Council’s CEO, Kathy Keele, says Australia is in danger of being left behind the US and the UK.

“In Australia, we’re behind the rest of the world in getting our writers represented in the e-book phenomena,” she said.

“So part of this conversation has to recognise the challenges, and how we do protect the rights of artists but still make sure that they get their fair share of the income? That’s going to change.
