There are several Kindle pages you should check out on a regular basis for free and low-priced ebooks.

The first is the 100 Kindle Books for $3.99 or Less page.  This is an edited page and sometimes contains some very neat stuff.  Today, for example, they have Tune In Tokyo: The Gaijin Diaries by Tim Anderson for $1.99 (which I just bought).

The next stop to check is the Kindle Daily Deal.  Sometimes they have some really good stuff here.  At the time of this writing the deal is Hate Mail from Cheerleaders by Rick Reilly.  Normally $9.99, it’s now going for $0.99 – a $9 savings.

Another page to check is the Kindle Best Sellers page.  This is updated hourly and on the right side of the page they have the top 100 free ebooks.  The current top free ebook is Out of Time, by Deborah Truscott.

  1. This is probably a dumb but somewhat related question:

So is it now possible to publish books through Amazon for a price of $0? Last time I checked, they insisted on a charge of at least $1, which means the book doesn’t show up on free book lists.

Yet I’m seeing a lot about listings of free books by Amazon for Kindles. Are these all books that have been published through other places, not Amazon?

    I’m confused. (Obviously.)
