kindle fireStill thinking about a new Kindle Fire but hesitant about the price? Amazon is offering a tempting deal until tomorrow. Buy any new Kindle Fire (including last year’s model) and get a $40 credit toward digital content. That covers music, Amazon Instant Video, Kindle books or Amazon App Store apps.

Here’s the link with details.

One thing to remember. The credit expires on March 31, 2014. There was also this item in the fine print

The digital content promotional credit can only be used to redeem up to $25 off purchases of titles in the Kindle Book Store, Amazon Instant Video Store, Amazon Appstore for Android, and Amazon MP3 Music Store and are not redeemable for any other types of merchandise sold at Amazon.com. Only redeemable at Amazon.com. Promotional credit may not be applied to in-app purchases.

Bolding is mine. I’m assuming that means up to $25 per purchase. So if you wanted to purchase an entire season of a TV show (which cost $39.99, for example), the credit would only apply to $25 of that. I do find that odd. And note that the credit doesn’t apply to in-app purchases. Parents with children beware.

It’s also not clear to me how this would apply to a Kindle purchased as a gift. I’m not sure the person receiving the gift would be able to redeem the code. Although the easy way around that would be to include a $40 gift card with the Kindle and redeem the code for your own purchases.

Perhaps I’m making it too complicated, but this is the way my mind works.

Anyway, you can make it work out as a $40 “discount” on a new Kindle Fire if you want to look at it that way. And I’m sure most readers of this site can manage to spend that much on Amazon digital content before next March.
