I love the convenience of having eBooks, but I have to say, nothing beats a shelf full of physical books. I have books on Stanza, Ibooks, Kindle, and tucked away on internet sites all over the world, and I can never find anything. My printed books are a pain to carry around, but a least I know where to look when I want to read something a second time through. I hope some day there will be one book self for all my eBooks, and a thousand different readers with which to enjoy them.

Unfortunately it's too late now. Fictionwise has become a useless second rate ebook company now with its self-inflicted suicidal business changes.

I had converted all my eReader books into ePub so that I could use them with Stanza and Dropbox on the iPhone. Then I got the iPad and I thought Stanza wasn't going to be updated (let alone eReader). By the time Stanza was updated I had tried most of the other ePub readers on iPad, and iBooks, though still an early effort, was the least bad (for me).

The surprising Stanza and eReader updates do prove one interesting thing - an update requires more work than just making the text fill the page. Stanza had problems with ePub stylesheets which you could overlook on a small screen, but which became more glaring on the large canvas. eReader, even with maximum settings for margins, ends up with a utilitarian slab of text on the page.

I had thought the margins and fake pages on iBooks a waste of space (and the fake pages are probably) but on the bigger screen the emphasis switches back from just fitting the text on the page to also paying attention to how and where it is displayed. Neither Stanza or eReader address this sufficiently IMO.

Hmm. I'll do that. Though this does represent the second or third time I've tried. I think I did get a few more books this time, but still some were missing.

You might try re-downloading again. I had two dozen books I was locked out from re-downloading and as per a tip on Mobile Read, I tried again today and it's now working.

I downloaded eReader for iPad and it crashed without fail every time I tried to download a book with it. Epic fail. Thank goodness I don't buy from Fictionwise anymore!
