Ebook readers are biggest consumers of new media, says new survey

By Paul Biba

readers.jpegA press release from L.E.K. Consulting’s Media Survey (which is laced with too many cutesy terms) showed “… a potential goldmine for content providers and advertisers alike …. The survey also showed that almost half of e-reader users increased their consumption of books, and more than one-third of their consumption was incremental. This means that many books are being sold that would not have been sold as traditional print books.”

It goes on to say that ebook readers are: “…driving growth in the book and magazine market and has a voracious appetite for new media. While iPod owners consumed about nine hours per week of new media, e-reader owners consumed more than 18 hours a week.”

One Response to “Ebook readers are biggest consumers of new media, says new survey”

  1. I have had my Kindle for about five months now and I definitely am reading much more often now. It’s so convenient-I only have about 65 books in it now-due to time restraints but love the capacity to hold all of my favorites at once. It’s ideal for travel. I am anxiously anticipating the new devices poised to hit the market.
