I am a writer/author with my fifth book due out next year, and I own all publishing rites to my work. My books are in PDF format for publishing and I would like to make them available as e-books via my website. I've been trying to understand how to do this, have tried to do it via Calibre, and remain thoroughly confused by the complexities of the process, in spite of finding your instructions clear and easy to follow. Any suggestions as to who I might contact for help with this problem?

Sorry to bump an old thread but would anyone know why after converting and sending my books to a Kindle Fire using Calibre they do not show up on the device? They definitely transferred as it shows space being used in the memory and I can see them in the folder when device is USB connected to my computer but just not on the reader how they should be.

Thanks

Apple's official document states that iPad can read PDF files, why i can't view PDF file created from web page? I have to convert twice (webpage-> PDF-> Epub) in order to read it on my iPad, is there a simple solution out there?

Besides, Hamster Free eBook Converter is a nice alternative to Calibre.

Has it been mentioned that ".epub" is a special case of ".zip" ? If you change the .epub to .zip you can then open the file and access the contents within.

Just a thought.

I tried to use Calibre for uploading my .docx file. I hoped Calibre would convert it into .txt file which me Ectaco book reader supports. Guess what. Calibre did not recognize .docx file.
I did not have any trouble uploading the manual itself which is .epub file.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you.

I recently purchased an ipad and have an extensive ebook collection. After converting all my pdfs to epubs, using Calibre, I found they appear in random order in my iBook app. I understanding Apple has received a lot of suggestions so that the books appear in Alpha order, by author, A-Z. No response from them on when, or IF, they will ever do this. It was suggested to me that there may be a way, using Calibre, that I can "fool" the iBook app into listing the books in Alpha order in the bookshelf view. Said it had something to do with the metadata. Can someone help me with the steps to take to do this? Has anyone had any success in this area?

"Using Calibre to convert
Using Calibre to convert is very easy. Plug in your e-book reader. Open Calibre and click the “Add books” button on the top left.
Select your book.

WHERE DO I GO TO SELECT THE BOOK?

I forgot to check Notify me.
