I don't like DRM, but with the exception of B&N all epub files are cross platform/store compatible. The B&N scheme will be adopted by Adobe as well and incorporated into the next version of ADE for any vendor to incorporate as well. So, same result as having a Kindle without epub. Do NOT be sold on epub. Unless it has NO DRM, it is just as restricted as Amazon's azw format. It is not really more open. But for those who want the out of stock Kindle DX mentioned above, a friend referred us to an interesting tool that alerted us within seconds of when a laptop we were looking for came back in stock, at the REGULAR Amazon price, not the inflated 3rd party seller price. It actually monitors Amazon stock, and alerts you much faster than email. It's free and I guess people are using it for anything else that's out of stock (at Amazon).
