Amazon changes requirement to POD with BookSurge

By Paul Biba

press.jpegAmazon has required that authors and publishers who want to do POD and sell through Amazon use Amazon’s own printing company BookSurge (now CreateSpace). This has led to a lot of ill feeling and a lawsuit by BookLocker.

Now, according to Publishers Weekly, Amazon has cut a deal with Ingram to allow POD through Ingram’s Lightning Source division. No further details are available in the article, but I wonder what this will do to the BookLocker lawsuit.

  1. What’s hilarious about this is that pre-Booksurge Amazon was using LS to fill POD orders. Monopolistic greed ended that and now they’ve come back to where they were. Classic case of fixing something that wasn’t broken to begin with.
