I might have misheard him about what he was reading. Whatever it was did appear to be professionally converted, but I didn't actually see a printed page, just a big calligraphy "B".

And Steve, even if the Kindle did have backlights, it would have been rude to use them in a movie theater. (Anyway, the movie was pretty decent.)

I take the E Line New york City subway every week day. Imagine my surprise when I walked into a subway car and saw that all of the advertising spaces on that car had an ad for a vendor advertising their own cover for Kindles, with a Kindle featured prominently in the ad. However, I do have to say that while my wife has a Kindle 2 and loves it, she does wish it had built in lighting like the Sony 700 that I have, and side by side the 700 is at least an inch shorter than the Kindle.

He must have converted the Wheel of Time books himself as they've never (with the exception of excerpts) been released to digital format. I'd buy the whole series on Kindle today if they had been, but alas the publisher has so far appears to refuse to publish to digital.

I've started seeing Kindles in the wild as well. The light rail I ride is increasingly well-represented with iPhones, Blackberries and Kindles in eBook mode. I'm also seeing a gradual uptick in my Kindle Store sales. Life must be getting tougher for the eBook deniers out there.

It's just a shame said parents couldn't have continued reading if they got bored with the movie...
