firefox 3.5 is not crap - at least it runs well on my system. However, firefox 3.6 did fix some of the issues that some people have had with 3.5 but both versions are good. Any new version will always fix something and create new problems as well :)

One issue right after another! Can not send or reply to emails, images will not load/enlarge, search window will not work; on and on! I think J may have something; Microsoft is killing it in our windows updates! The insidious bastards want to rule the world and will take anyone down that gets in their way. In the mean time a software product that I love is being screwed to the point I have no choice but to go to the dark side to use the internet!!!!

Mozilla 3.5 on my crashes 3 times or more a day, it eats up all my rams and it is very slow, it is the biggest piece of crap in this world now. The old version works great on Vista but after the upgrade to 3.5 that's when all the problem started.

Either that or the window updates killed it, you know Microsoft, the death star, they don't want you to use any other browser other than Explore. So they may have planted a bug in the updates to kill off all the other browsers.

It was locking up firefox using 100% CPU usage. I went through the plugins and disabled the shockwave flash and problem went away.

my previous comment should read:

As far as the problem with pages not loading goes. I would be interested in knowing how many of the users with this problems did clean installs versus ff upgrades. I had this problem on machines where I did a clean install (by clean I mean ff has never been on the machine) but on machines where I upgraded to the new version, I didn't experience the problem. I fixed the problem on the clean install machines by deleting the profile and creating a new one. Pretty lame.

I'm using Windows Vista and I like it, real great, BUT the only problem is that it constantly says Server not Found, whenEVER I try to go to YouTube. It takes a long time and then it says the server is not found. When I press Try Again it works though... I never had to go through that with Firefox 3.0 though...
I run it on my XP computer and it does the same thing, and surprisingly, it's actually experienced a weird crash. When I go to YouTube, then the whole program crashes!

I recently had to reformat my computer, and I also reinstalled firefox 3.6. It's definitely an improvement over 3.5, at least for me anyway...I've only had a few crashes in the past week while running my pc 24-7, so it seems to have stabilized. As for the browsing trick, I think I'll try it if I have another crash.

Then again, maybe reformatting my pc helped in some way.

I was having the same problem... very, very slow shutdown of FireFox. I changed the number of days that browsing history is kept to 10 days and the problem was __IMMEDIATELY solved__!!!!

Also, startup is now very fast too. There's a lot of articles out there that talk about why the number of days of browsing history makes such a difference so I won't repeat them here.

Again, Tools-->Options-->"Remember my browsing history for at least"
Change to a smaller number like 10 days.

Firefox 3.6 is crappier than 3.5. It freezes randomly and during that time, you can't click anything and you don't see your typed text until after it comes out of the freeze-time. 3.5 is as good as it'll ever get for me.

I decided first to go with IE 8 which crashed less but was heavier and used more CPU than FireFox did and it would have to stop and ramp up my memory if I was on it for any time at all. That wasn't good.

So then I decided to go with Opera and I've never been so happy! It is so fast! It's easy to use and it's stable and easy on memory! I just can't believe how fast my computer is on the net! I feel like I have a brand new computer! (Upgraded 98 that runs XP).
I think Opera is a great alternative to FireFox

Well don't uninstall or delete Firefox yet. Instead, get Google Chrome and it will let you transfer all of your information from FF over, such as bookmarks, passwords, etc. That way you don't have to start all the way over. I've been using Chrome for a while now, and I love it just as much as I used to love FF. In some ways, it's even better. Give it a shot and I'm sure you'll love it.
