I put a list together of some of the free public domain books I have downloaded to my iPhone. I have a little over 150 now and they are all great. A few I got through Kindle, but most through Stanza and the Project Gutenburg catalog.

I appreciate your point, Joseph, but many Kindle owners are novices to e-books and want reassurances that books will be readable on K-machines. A great argument for ePub, so they don’t have this uncertainty! Furthermore, how many average Kindle owners know about Calibre and all that? Thanks. David

David, practically all of the sources you list are just as useful to owners of any and all ebook readers (or PCs and PDAs), not just the Kindle. You’re just perpetuating the mindset that Kindle is the only game in town (which Amazon would love).
