I agree with Paul. Sony and others are behind Kindle.

Why Kindle is successful? Because it's simple and doesn't need a PC.

Why Kindle Store and iTunes App Store are so popular and successful? They don't require a PC to make purchases!

My ipod touch/phone is not a toy. It is an extension of myself with my calendar, contact list, MP3s, videos, pictures, and currently over 600 ebooks. I'm not reading books on a Nintendo DS!

Device elitism doesn't help anything.

The iphone is a toy, as are other smart phones when it comes to reading a book. The dedicated book-reading device will prevail, if only they can sell at a lower price.

I might as well scourge this crap too while I'm still here:

>>>ignored the look-at-me shouts of the smaller, power-user sector

What an inversion of the term "power-user." I'd argue the iPhone is the *first* power *user* phone -- because its *power* is so simple to use.

Paul, this is just overwrought and over the frikkin top:

>>>Sony is left behind in this regard. Sure their readers are selling well, but I would bet they are primarily being sold to techies.

Gee, by that bizarre leap, I guess the *millions* who also bought Palm PDAs were "techies." Please!

>>>The “average” person doesn’t want to connect to a computer and figure out how to sync a device.

See above.

>>>Most people barely know how to use their computers, anyway.

Define "most"! And really, Paul, WTF?!

>>>And this is the market that e-publishers want to reach.

So basically -- people who are too frikkin stupid to read?!
