I'd have done well to have mentioned the 700--I still own one myself! The res is indeed better. It has a 4.1" 800x480 LCD touch screen, a microphone and speaker. It's capable of running FBReader and VoIP clients in the guise of google chat (preinstalled) and gizmo which you will have to find. Best of all it's typically bought for around 150USD. The only downside is that because the 770 is "old" (in terms of internet years anyway) they can be hard to find - to the point of having to get one second hand.
