The plastic clip works fine for me but I can see that the manufacturing tolerance might vary enough so that some don't hold the Kindle as snugly as others. I'd be very wary about putting <b>anything</b> in the front flap that would rest on the screen of the Kindle. If it accepts a pad of paper larger than the screen that might be ok. I’ve had my Kindle for 11 months now and never had the problem some folks seem to have with their cover.
