Open access *and* the author gets paid! (Note that the protocol typically involves a certain threshold dollar value, not a percentage of readers, as in the aborted Stephen King serial. With a threshold, paying readers can't get disappointed from 'freeloaders' interfering the release. And it gives an incentive to readers who want to find out the rest of the story sooner rather than later.)
